Jethro's Caves & Zipporah's Well

Visit ancient Midian near the town of Al Bada, including Jethro's Caves (Magha'ir Shu'aub in Arabic) and Zipporah's Well. When Moses fled Egypt, he came to Midian and met his wife Zipporah at this well. While the Nabateans constructed many of the tomb faces at this site, it is widely recognized as the location of ancient Midian and is likely where Moses stayed with Jethro. You can see Mount Sinai in the distance and imagine Moses taking his flock there when he had the burning bush experience. A modern museum on-site offers the chance to learn even more about the rich history of Midian.

Rephadim & Split Rock of Moses

Journey to Rephidim & the Split Rock of Moses, a pivotal stop for ancient Israel before reaching the Sinai wilderness, rich with biblical significance. According to Exodus, Rephidim was the site of Israel’s battle against the Amalekites, where Aaron and Hur supported Moses in holding his staff aloft, securing victory for Israel. It was also here that Moses struck the Rock of Horeb, miraculously providing water for the people. During your tour, marvel at the striking Split Rock of Moses and, if you choose, climb the hill to its base for a closer look. Your expert guide will lead you to a nearby plain, a potential site of the historic battle between Israel and the Amalekites, bringing this sacred history to life.

Red Sea Crossing Site

One of the most significant miracles in the entire Bible is the splitting of the Red Sea (Yam Suph). By recognizing Jabal Maqla in NW Saudi Arabia as the Real Mount Sinai, the Sea of Aqaba becomes the obvious choice as the body of water Moses split. Most have pointed to the beaches of Nuweiba on the Egypt side of the Sea of Aqaba as the location where Israel began the crossing. It's one of the only places along the Sea where the underwater topography is level enough for a crossing. You can see the beaches surrounded by mountains from the Saudi side. Enjoy a sunset over the Sea and perhaps a refreshing swim.

Real Mount Sinai

Experience the Real Mount Sinai in Saudi Arabia! Day 3 offers an extraordinary full-day adventure climbing the Real Mount Sinai, a transformative experience steeped in history and faith.

Mount Sinai is where God spoke to Moses through the burning bush, revealed His divine Name, and called him to lead the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage. Later, it became the hallowed site where God delivered the Ten Commandments and where the 70 Elders encountered the Divine Presence. At its base, the plains once hosted the Israelite encampment and the construction of the Tabernacle.

At the foot of the mountain, explore the Moses Altar, referenced in Exodus 24, and view the possible remnants of the 12 pillars erected by Moses. Marvel at ancient petroglyphs illustrating the Golden Calf incident and the Golden Calf Altar itself, vivid testaments to biblical history.

For the climb, you will want to start as early as you can to beat the heat. You will have a local guide to climb the mountain with you. Begin your climb early to avoid the midday heat, accompanied by an expert local guide. The ascent is physically demanding, with steep sections, loose rocks, and some bouldering. Choose between summiting the peaks, a 6- to 8-hour round-trip journey, or hiking to Elijah’s Cave, a 3- to 5-hour trek. Both routes offer a glimpse of the revered “Plateau of the 70 Elders.
